Jacksonville Benefits is a free community guide to the help that already exists in Jacksonville and Duval County — food assistance, health coverage, rent and utility help, child care, veterans’ benefits, and more — gathered in one place and explained in plain words.
We are not a government agency, and we are not part of any program we list. We don’t decide who qualifies for anything. We check each program against the organization’s own website or office, write down exactly who it helps, what it takes to apply, and who to call — then we keep checking.
Why we built it: Florida’s help runs through a lot of doors — MyACCESS for state benefits, the city for emergency help, JEA for utility arrangements, nonprofits for food and housing — and nobody hands you the whole map. Worse, Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so thousands of working adults here fall into a gap: too much income for Medicaid, not enough for private insurance. If that’s you, this site will not waste your time pretending otherwise — it will show you the doors that are actually open: sliding-scale clinics, city-funded care for the uninsured, KidCare for your kids, and Marketplace coverage.
Jacksonville is also a military city. Veterans and military families get their own section here, because your benefits — VA claims help, food support at the bases, Florida’s own veterans’ programs — run on different doors than everyone else’s.
How to use this site
- Check what you qualify for — answer a few questions, get your programs in order, problem first.
- Browse the directory — every verified program in Duval County, with phone numbers, addresses, and directions.
- Read a guide — the step-by-step for the big ones: food stamps, Medicaid and KidCare, JEA bills, rent help, and the closed Section 8 waitlist.
- Or let us do it — Apply for Me: tell us your situation and a person builds your guide and emails it to you, free.
Every listing on this site was verified against the organization’s own website or office in October 2026, and we re-check on a schedule. If you find something wrong, the “Report a problem” link on every program page goes straight to a person.
